Is Your Company’s Marketing Strategy Stuck In The 90’s?

Well, this is going to be controversial again, but we gotta start talking about this.

Let me start off by saying that by no means do I think I have all the answers. Far from it.

What I do know is that what I’ve been doing for the last 6 or 7 years has not been working. We’ve all heard the saying: “Continuing to do the same thing over and over again, expecting different results, is the definition of insanity.”

I DON’T WANT TO BE INSANE ANYMORE!

First, I want to let it be known that I am forever grateful for the training and insights that I’ve learned from the leaders who have gone before me in network marketing. My life is forever changed through the leadership and personal development that I’ve been blessed to have received through the training systems that I’ve been a part of in the past.

But here’s the thing…it ain’t workin’ anymore.

It’s been said that “Methods are many, principles are few. Methods always change, but principles never do.”

The principles of network marketing will always stay the same.

  1. This is a people business. You’re going to have to serve people if you want to be successful.
  2. You’re going to have to build relationships.
  3. It’s going to take effort. We don’t promise easy, but we do promise it’s worth it.

If you think you’re going to be able to build a sustainable network marketing business 100% automated, I think you’re lying to yourself. That would be cool, but we are relational creatures. We want to be a part of a tribe. We want to be connected. It’s the relationships that are the glue to any business or organization.

Here’s the deal though…

There are many leaders who got their results back in the day that don’t understand why there is such a need in the marketplace for alternative training for network marketers.

I mean, after all, THEY succeeded building their business offline, building house to house, and using coffee shop, hotel, and home meetings. It worked for them, it should work for us too, right?

All we have to do is work harder right?

Pay the price, right?

Keep inviting more people to the meetings, right?

Nope.

Methods are many, remember?

Just because it worked 20 years ago, doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do today. Innovation is happening, and the biggest winners in the future will be the ones who take these 3 steps if their current network marketing training system is stuck in the past (or if they don’t have one at all)…

     1. BUILD YOUR BRAND ONLINE

Did you know that you are already building a brand on social media? Everything you are doing is branding yourself. That could be good branding, or that could be terrible branding.

Posting about your company, it’s products, and your business opportunity directly on your social media accounts is NOT the  way you want to go about marketing your products, services or opportunity.

That’s not marketing, that’s called spamming, and it’s not cool!

People love to seek out information, and they love to buy, but they hate being sold.

Attract them to you. Don’t go whacking them over the head with your product or opportunity on social media. Did you see how that worked out when you pitched your business at the family BBQ?

If people are avoiding your calls, or not showing up to meetings, that is a good sign that they are not interested or looking right now. Leave them alone. Go fishing in another pond, where the fish like what you’re offering.

Or, you could be repelling them. I don’t want to be tough, but that could be the problem. There are skills that need to be learned and implemented when building a network marketing business. Soft skills, including leadership and people skills are vital in building a successful business. Learn those skills…they will serve you in whatever you do in the future!

        2. PROVIDE DAILY VALUE

What are the problems that network marketers are having today in the marketplace? How about not having enough people to talk to about their product, service, or business opportunity?  Start to solve those problems daily for them, and you will be well on your way to providing value!

Providing value daily can come in a variety of forms online.

  • You could do a daily Facebook live to deliver your content.
  • You could email your people.
  • You could post on Facebook through a business fan page to people who have raised their hand and said “Yes! I want information from this person in my newsfeed everyday!”
  • You could do video chats and connect with prospects and/or customers to help them where they are at. All of these things provide value. Be consistent with this!

All business is can be summed up by finding a problem in the marketplace, and solving that problem. The more problems you solve for people, the more successful you’ll become!

       3. HELP OTHERS SUCCEED

This is where the rubber hits the road.

Roll up your sleeves, and get personal with people. Employ your people and leadership skills. Encourage someone. Listen. Show people a better way.

A big objection to building a network marketing business online is that it’s perceived as being impersonal. Like we’re just trying to get people to subscribe to our email list, or buy our product or service and never talk to them or build the relationship.

That’s not it.

Building online makes the most sense because of the leverage it offers.

You can target your perfect prospect using Facebook, and you can leave your family members alone (at least the ones who are avoiding you at family gatherings)…

You can help them solve their problems and do so in an automated way, like shooting a video and posting it on social media for people to watch when you’re not around.

You can use high tech like paid advertising on Facebook using sales funnels, but combine with high touch where you reach out to your prospective customers and business partners via a video chat like zoom, and get to know their problems, needs, and desires. If you do that, you’ll have the best of both worlds, and that is what I recommend…

COMBINE HIGH TECH AND HIGH TOUCH!

This is the future of network marketing. Get this right and you’ll become the expert in the space that everyone wants to learn from. Get this right and be partnered with the right network marketing company who encourages this type of building, and you’ll attract all the big leaders from other companies who are sick and tired of being under the thumb of short sighted companies with leaders who built their business years ago and don’t know why all of their new people are having such a difficult time building.

And remember, according to Zig Ziglar, “Help enough people get what they want, and you’ll have everything you want!” Build your brand online, provide daily value, and help people daily, and you’ll be well on your way to reaching your goals and dreams.
