People LOVE to buy, but they HATE to be sold.

Think about it…it’s kinda like going to buy a brand new car…

I don’t know if you’re like me or not, but I LOVE getting and driving a new car…

The smell of the brand new leather interior, the feel of the seats and the brand new carpeted mats, the sound of a brand new engine purring, and the way the car handles when you are the first one driving it off the lot…

That’s all good, but before you get to the fun part, you have to deal with you-know-who…the car salesman…

NOBODY LOOKS FORWARD TO SEEING THE ‘SALESMAN’…

Now I’m going to be slightly stereotypical for a second and assume this guy or gal is going to be the type of salesperson we all wish we could avoid…

The people who try to wheel-and-deal you, and try to get you to sign the paperwork right on the spot, and are one of the “you hold the pen and I’ll move the paper” kind of people…

Yuck.

Have you ever noticed people, or have you ever yourself gone to a dealership AFTER HOURS, just so you can avoid being pounced on like a fresh piece of meat by the salespeople that are lurking by the front door or looking out the front windows of the dealership? I know I sure have. All I want to do is stroll around the lot, look at prices, look in windows, and figure out which one I want to BUY…because if I’m looking, I’m most likely in the BUYING zone…

People want to BUY…They don’t want to be SOLD…

Here’s what I’ve realized after being in the network marketing industry for 7 years…it’s the exact same thing for people looking for an opportunity.

Allow me to explain…

First off, I want you to realize that people DON’T join network marketing companies, and they surely DON’T sign up for the products…

EVEN if the products are the best, most high quality, unique, and will save the world one person at a time, it’s not the products that move people to buy…

PEOPLE MOVE PRODUCTS, PRODUCTS DON’T MOVE PEOPLE!!!

Think about your own situation…when you joined your network marketing company, what was the most attractive thing about the “buying experience”?

Were you sold on all the features and benefits of the health and wellness product, or the discounts on travel, or the ability to buy things online and have them shipped to your door? I bet you weren’t.

I bet you joined because you thought the person or people who showed you the opportunity could help you achieve some kind of desired RESULT you wanted, which was most likely more TIME and more MONEY.

People join other people, NOT business opportunities!

So where are you focusing your efforts right now when it comes to building your business? Are you trying to sell your products because of all of the awesome features and benefits it provides? Are you trying to promote your company to people because of the awesome compensation plan or the incentive trips you can earn?

I did that for a long time, and you know what…it didn’t work for me.

Here’s what I found out…we as network marketers need to focus less on the networking part (talking to as many people as we can) and start focusing on the marketing part (creating an attractive message that will be music to your perfect prospects ears).

I never market my network marketing company by name online. The reason I don’t is because as soon as I let that cat out of the bag, I just turned myself into a commodity…

What I mean by that is that if you were interested in my products, and you know the company name, all you have to do is Google that company name and voila…you can purchase what you want to without the fear that a desperate network marketer is going to be hounding you to look at a presentation or buy other things that you don’t necessarily want or need. Remember, people WANT to buy, but they don’t like to be SOLD…

But consider this situation…

What if you focused on solving the biggest problems for your perfect prospect…

What if you became a servant leader who looked to create win-win or no deal scenarios…

What if you became the guy or the gal who became the PROFESSIONAL and the LEADER when it came to online prospecting and recruiting…

Do you think you’d be attractive to other network marketers?

Do you think people would start coming to you, asking you to help them solve problems in their business (like maybe not having enough people to talk to regarding their opportunity? 🙂 )

Do you think they may be attracted to you and want to join YOUR TEAM because you are now the person who can lead them to their desired outcome?

I love network marketing because it can provide residual income if structured properly with the right systems in place…

Network marketing companies are NOT the asset…it is YOU, Inc.

Think of the network marketing company as your partner in business. They are 1 source of income.

But what if you knew how to do this online prospecting and recruiting thing professionally, and not the spammy way, which is how most companies teach their reps…do you think people would pay you for that kind of advice or training?

The answer, of course, it YES…now you have a 2nd stream of income…

And what if you could be an affiliate for companies who provide other products and services that would benefit your perfect prospect? Would you be serving the public if you offered those types of services? Of course! Now you’ve got 3 streams of income!

Who wouldn’t want multiple streams of income anyway?

What about when you get to the point to where you’ve mastered a strategy, and you can now produce income at will online because you know how to market ANYTHING online professionally…could you create your own info products at that point? Can you say 4th stream of income?

I hope you get the point, and see the possibilities!!!

At the end of the day, network marketers will be attracted to the leader who knows how to prospect and recruit online using social media the professional way. The old school way of offline prospecting and recruiting still works, but is becoming obsolete.
